All of GWR’s seat belts are certified and homologated to meet or exceed the following standards, depending on their application and target market: ECE R16, 77/541/ECE, ECE R44, FMVSS 209, FMVSS 302, ADR4, SAE J386, SAE J2292, FIA 8853/98 FIA 8854/98, SFI, 28/95, ECE 118. We can also complete product certification or validation according to customer requirements.

ARE GWR SEAT BELTS APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) FOR USE IN THE UNITED STATES?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is the governing agency under the Department of Transportation (DOT) for on-road, highway vehicle safety. The NHTSA administers Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) for the United States, and our seat belts are tested and certified to meet FMVSS 209 and FMVSS 302 which are the United States standards related to seat belts.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ECE R-16 AND FMVSS 209?

ECE R16 is the UN seat belt regulation, which is a more strict regulation than FMVSS 209. ECE R16 requires more demanding strength requirements and durability tests, and ECE R16 requires a dynamic crash test at 50 kilometers per hour for every seat belt model. Additionally, ECE R16 tests must be certified by a third parting testing company. You should require that your seat belts are ECE R16 certified in addition to FMVSS 209.

DOES GWR MANUFACTURE CUSTOM SEAT BELTS AND SAFETY RESTRAINTS?

ARE GWR SAFETY RESTRAINTS ONLY AVAILABLE IN BLACK?

In addition to offering every color as long as it is black, we also offer different colored tongues, pillar loops, and buckle, and have a rainbow assortment of webbing colors. Contact us to receive information on our different color options.

CAN GWR SEAT BELTS BE USED FOR OUTDOOR APPLICATIONS?

Yes, in addition to meeting the requirements for SAE J386 and SAE 2292, we complete additional salt testing, minimum and maximum temperature testing, and testing with dirt and debris. DOES GWR OFFER ELECTRIC OR MICRO-SWITCH BUCKLES?
